July 30, 2012 - Recovery

It is so nice to be home, but sad that Joe had to go to work today.  It has been so nice to have our daddy with us every day for a while.  Brig was up once in the night.  He didn't eat really well during the day on this trip.  Too hot and weird schedules I think.  So along with that and not wanting to wake up everyone we stayed with, I was up with him most nights.  So I'm giving him a few nights to adjust before we get him back sleeping through the night.  We went and saw Hill for a bit this morning.  Other than that, we've been trying to unpack and clean up and get some rest too.  Brigham has been pretty tired today.  And now that he has a little tooth in his mouth, he's making all kinds of funny faces!

July 29, 2012 - All Day in the Car

Our last day on the road.  Going home is always so much harder I think.  We left around 8:00.  No shower, a quick breakfast, just get the heck out of there.  Brigham woke up every two hours in the night.  Not a whole lot of fun for me.  So we finally got out of there and I had a snooze for a bit in the morning.  Around 11:00 we stopped for gas and switched drivers.  Fortunately we didn't have a wait at the border, but Brig was getting a little cranky.  So we stopped in Cardston for some lunch.  And then we tried to burn it home.  Traffic was a little nuts from Calgary to Edmonton, just a crazy Sunday afternoon.  Brigham also decided it was a good time to practice is pterydactyl screeching.  We were all ready to be home and out of the car.  Hence I didn't really want to stop for gas.  We got to the gas station by our house with our car saying 0km to Empty.  So I wonder how much more you can drive after that.  We didn't want to find out.  We went for a short walk and gave Brig a bath and he was off to bed early.  It was such a fun trip.  I was glad to do all the fun things we did and to see my brother and Alisha, but it is good to be home!

July 28, 2012 - Last Day at the Lake

Well, Brigham was up at 6:00 this morning, and so therefore, so was I.  But he went back to sleep around 8:00, and so did I.  The boys went golfing again, and Alisha slept in, so if was a quiet morning.  We went for a little walk before naps.  We went down to a closer beach for a couple of hours.  It wasn't a very nice beach, but we just took Brig for a little swim.  We got home and the boys went quading.  Joe got dirty!  I packed up and started cleaning up because Jay and Alisha were going home too.  We took Brig for a little quad ride and then it was time to get in the car.  We were going to Helena.  Not sure why.  We left by 3:00 but we didn't get to the hotel until almost 11:00.  But we had to make a couple of stops for our little guy.  We stopped at McDonalds in Idaho Falls and he was sooo happy to be out of the car. 

July 27, 2012 - The Lake!

Today was our big lake day.  Brigham was up pretty early so we all had a good sleep in/snooze after he went back to bed.  It was a bit windy and cloudy out and we weren't sure how nice it would be down at the beach, but by the time we got down there, it was perfect.  The water has come in so that there are these shallow little pools that are nice and warm.  We got Brig a cute little floaty and I wasn't sure if he would like it or not, but he had a blast.  He even had a little snooze with dad.  After naps we went down to Le Beau's for our traditional burger and shake supper.  We tried to stay up to watch a movie, but I don't think anyone made it to the end!

July 26, 2012 - The Zoo!

Originally we had planned to go to Lagoon today, but Brigham was a little pooped and we figured we maybe needed a bit of a slower day.  So after morning naps we went to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake.  It was a blast and I would love to go again when Brig is a little older.  We saw a lot of neat animals and a really cool bird show that was a lot of fun.  It was SUPER hot, and Brig struggled with that a little, but again, he was a great little trooper.  He had another good nap in the afternoon.  Then we packed everything up and headed out for the cabin.  Sad to say goodbye to Jay and Alisha's place (and all the shopping) and to know that we were on the last half of our vacation!

July 25, 2012 - Park City

Today we drove out to Park City to go to the big outlet mall there.  I had big hopes of blowing all my shopping money.  I did find a few things, among them a very hot pair of red heels.  Joe likes them a lot!  Brigham did a good job and snoozed a little in his stroller.  He was a little crabby today but we soon found out that he had cut his first tooth.  He has a nice little razer blade in there now.  So if that's as crabby as he gets for teething then I'll take it!  Then we went to Beckett and Robb where Jordan works and got Joe all fitted for his new custom suit.  I am sooooo excited.  I think it is going to look amazing.  Joe was a little skeptical, but I think he is a little excited.  We got home and had supper together and just hung out in the evening.  Another busy day with a good little boy.  Brigham was pretty pooped at the end of it though!

July 24, 2012 - Hanging out with Family

It was Pioneer Days today which apparently means nobody goes to work.  Jordan had the day off anyway, but it was a nice surprise that Alisha did too.  The boys went golfing in the morning and Alisha and I went out to Sandy for a breakfast at her parent's ward.  It was nice to visit with John and Kathy again.  They are always so nice!  We came home for naps and all of us napped with Brigham.  I think we all needed a little rest.  Then we went out in the afternoon.  The boys took Brigham to a sport and camping shop and Alisha and I went and looked at fabric.  I got the cutest stuff for a quilt for a big boy bed for Brig (one day!).  Then we went downtown to see the new city creek mall and a bit of temple square.  Brig's favorite part was the little fountain we parked him in front of.  That boy sure loves water!

July 23, 2012 - Finally Salt Lake!

Well, we had a relatively short drive today, so we had a relaxing morning.  We went to the temple grounds and wandered around for a bit.  Brigham slept for most of the drive to Salt Lake.  Nobody was home at Jay and Alisha's yet, so we went to the mall.  While trying something on, I left Joe's phone in the change room, so once we made it back to Jay and Alisha's, I had to go back to the mall, hoping to find the phone.  Fortunately I did.  It was good to make it to Jay and Alisha's and finally see them.  It was also nice to be in a house with a separate room for Brigham.

July 22, 2012 - Driving Day

Today was a pretty long driving day.  We left Zack and Adrienne's around 9 in the morning.  By the border, Brigham was already pretty annoyed.  So as soon as we got across we pulled into Sunburst (yes, I have now been there) and turned his seat around.  He technically isn't big enough, but he was immediately happier.  We bought a little DVD player and he was pretty interested in that.  We also found out that if we wrapped him up and then belted him in, he napped longer.  We made it to Idaho falls around supper time, got settled into the hotel, and did a little swimming.  Once we got Brigham down for the night, we ordered pizza and had a couple of hours to relax.  Felt like a long day, but Brigham was a trooper and a good little traveller.

July 21, 2012 - Playing with Cousins

We spent some time today just playing and hanging out with our cousins.  Jocelyn and Braeden were both very interested in Brigham!  Jocelyn especially liked to be a little mommy.  We went to the park in the morning and then had some Japanese food for lunch.  Brigham is teething and likes to eat the table more than anything else!  After naps we tried to go out hiking but Adrienne broke her shoe so that was a little short lived.  We put the kids to be and Joe and Zack went out to a movie and Adrienne and I watched a chick flick at home. 

July 20, 2012 - Let's Hit the Road

Today we started out trip down south.  10 days of travel.  I was extremely nervous for how Brigham would do with so much driving.  Joe got off work early and we made it out of town between 1:00 and 2:00.  We stopped in Red Deer for gas and something to eat.  Brigham did okay and had a short nap, but he was a little difficult.  But we made it to Lethbridge in time to have dinner and see Jacob's family for a couple of hours.  We slept Brigham in the laundry room at their house too!  A busy day with packing and driving and making it to our first stop, but all went well.

July 19, 2012 - Another Busy Day

Well, another crazy day.  We just spent a lot of time running errands and getting things together for our trip tomorrow.  Brigham was such a good boy, put up with a lot of running around.  We stopped to see daddy at work for a bit and have a little lunch.  I had to go to the doctor for an ingrown toenail today.  Gross.  I hope it will get better before our trip.  Not a fun doctor visit.  Just a night of packing and hanging out.  This kid has waaaaay too much stuff. 

July 18, 2012 - Not a Happy Camper

Well, Brig was kind of a grumpy boy today.  No doubt had to do with the teething and the shots.  He was running a bit of a fever in the morning, and was not his usual happy self.  We went for a couple of walks to keep him occupied.  He was happy in the jumper...our latest excitement is jumping on plastic bags and making fun noises!  He should have had a little catnap around 5:30, but he didn't and so by 7:30 he was FURIOUS!  But we finally got him down and we are going on 12 hours of sleep as we speak.  Hope he's still alive!

July 17, 2012 - More Shots!

Well, started the morning with a good tooth brushing!  We got these neat little teether brushes from Glenda and Brig really likes them.  Ran a few errands today, and had to stop at the health center for Brig's 6 month shots.  He did great.  He is such a trooper.  It was even nap time and he only cried a little.  My tough little guy.  I got a bunch of laundry and other chores done today, but it still feels like we have a ton to do before we leave.  And then we went to the library to get some books and CD's for the drive.  It was a pretty good day!

July 16, 2012 - Another Monday

Well, back to routine.  Seems like Joe hasn't been to work in a while with time off for the garage and camp, so the old routine seems a little weird.  Brigham slept and slept and slept today.  He woke up at 5am and I wasn't getting up that early, so I wrapped him back up and he went back to sleep til almost seven.  Then he was back to sleep by 9 and slept until 12:30.  What a silly guy!  We went a did a little shopping with Gramma and then came home for another nap. I worked on getting our yard back in order and getting everything into the garage before we leave.  I even got the lawn mowed, so now we don't look like white trash anymore!  Then we had some hang out time with daddy before it was off to bed!

July 15, 2012 - Another Tough Sunday

With our success at the resturant, we broke out the high chair for a fun morning. Brig had a little nap from 8:30 to 9:00 this morning, and that was all the sleep he had from 6am until noon.  What a little trooper.  He is getting better at being awake for longer periods of time, but by the end of it all, he's pretty grumpy.  We came home and had naps and hung out.  Nothing too exciting.  But I love watching my little guy grow up and learn new things.  He is finding his voice and is pretty funny making all kinds of weird noises.  He's also finding more things that he can do more things with his body and he loves to kick and flap his little arms.  I worked on Kait's invites as well and aside from a couple loose ends, I AM DONE!  They turned out great!

July 14, 2012 - Daddy Came Home!

Another busy day.  We spent some time running around this morning getting some more invitation stuff and working on them during naps.  Joe got home around 2:00 and it was so good to see our daddy!  Then we decided to go out for dinner.  We put Brig in the high chair and I didn't think that he would do that well, but he loved it. He munched on crackers and fries and played with ice cubes.  We even caught him munching on the table corner a couple of times.  Poor little guy is haveing some serious teething troubles!  Then we went for a nice long walk and finished the night with a movie.  So good to have daddy home!

July 13, 2012 - Hanging with Baby Jaye

Another hot busy day.  Brig was up early this morning and was ready for a nap by 8:30 this morning.  Gramma came over after naps and we ran a few errands.  After another nap, Pop Pop came over and worked on the garage for a bit.  We went out to "help" and so I left Brigham on a blanket.  He hung out with Mac and they stared at each other a little.  I wish I had gotten a picture of it.  Brig also got a mitful of grass and was munching like a little horse before I got to him!  Hill and family came over for dinner and we got to see a little more of sweet Jaye.  Such a sweet little doll, and I can't believe that Brig was smaller than that at one time!

July 12, 2012 - Indoor Pool Party

Still super hot outside.  There was a big huge thunderstorm last night and a lot of people's houses are flooded.  We are still okay as far as I can tell.  Not swimming in the basement at any rate.  I ran a couple of errands with Brigham this morning.  We had to get a tire fixed and Brigham thought playing with the rims was pretty funny.  After naps we had a little indoor pool party because our outdoor pool was still in the sunshine.  He had a blast!  And now I know how to get him to drink water.  He doesn't like it from a bottle but the tap sure seems great!  I love this monkey!

July 11, 2012 - New Baby Jaye

Well, I woke up thinking there would be news of a baby, but no such luck.  Then we thought maybe by noon, but she came along at 8:10 am.  8lbs8oz.  Tons of cute dark hair.  Such an adorable little girl.  I couldn't really place who she looked like but looking at some of ethan's newborn pics, she is definitely his little sister.  He is a good big brother all ready.  We went to pick mom up at the hospital and got to see her for a second.  Brig looked right at her and just started giggling.  I think those two are going to be good buddies!

July 10, 2012 - Feelin' Hot Hot Hot

Another day of plus 30 weather, so I bought a pool...a really awesome one!  Ethan came over in the afternoon to play a little and let his mom and dad enjoy our AC!  But Brig didn't make it that long so we played by ourselves while Gramma to pictures.  He had a good time splashing around and didn't mind that it was a little cool.  We bought him a little swim shirt and at the store I thought it looked too big, but when we put it on, it snapped up over his chubby tummy, just like GusGus on Cinderella.  What a littl chubball.  Mom came up today because it was looking like Hill was going to have a baby and sure enough she went into labour around 8pm.  Good thing Gramma was here!

July 9, 2012 - Start of a Heat Wave

Well, it got real hot here real fast!  Brigham and I walked over to Superstore at 7:30 this morning and by the time we got back we were both melting.  I am so glad that we have air conditioning in our house.  I don't think I would ever go to the expense of putting it in, but it is really nice to have!  Hillary brought Ethan over at around 9:00 because she was starting to have cholestasis symptoms again and had to go to the doctor.  So we had fun painting outside before it got too hot and Brig was sleeping.  Brig has a tubby almost every night and he is a mover and a shaker.  He loves to kick the end of the tub and go shooting up.  So cute. 

July 8, 2012 - Sundays are Hard

Well, another Sunday.  It's always nice to have a day to relax and just be together, especially since Joe has been working so hard.  But church is tough on Brig's schedule.  He only slept about an hour at church and not a very long afternoon nap.  But he zonked out for 2 hours in the evening, so he was up for a bit.  He got to help Daddy pack for YM camp.  We even found his camo jammies so he could fit in.  I'm glad we did because he's growing like a weed and will outgrow them soon.  I remember when I saw them I thought he wouldn't wear them until he was a year old!  He went to bed later than usual and we thought he might sleep in, but no such luck!  Oh well...he is still our cute boy!

July 7, 2012 - Off To Newbrook!

Today we got up at the crack of dawn and drove up to Newbrook.  Joe and Dad helped Allen and Uncle Pat reshingle a shed and Brigham and I went up for the party.  Originally it was supposed to be a family thing, but Hillary is sick and about to have a baby so Mike stayed with her, and Kaitlin was sick, and Bobby had to study, so it was just us.  It was a beautiful day...too hot!  I had a good visit with Auntie Joan and she told me a lot of stories about her growing up and early married life.  It was a lot of fun to visit with her.  Uncle Pat took to Brig in no time and had a good time with him.  It was a fun day and I am glad I went, but now I am a tired girl...and ready for bed!

July 6, 2012 - Just Another Day at Home

Didn't do anything exciting today.  We went to see Joe over lunch and run a couple of errands.  Brigham was flapping his arms and smiling when Joe got in the car.  He loves his daddy.  My dad got here in time for supper and we spent a little time together in the evening before it was off to bed.  I was a tired little girl.  My little monkey is getting stronger.  Starting to sit a little better every day!

July 5, 2012 - Sunshine Today!

It was a much nicer today.  Hillary is super pregnant and has a major sinus infection, so she dropped Ethan off to go to the doctor.  We went over to the park and had a fun time. I can't wait until Brig is a little bigger and can enjoy fun stuff a little more.  Then we went and got groceries.  I get the bad mom award today.  I was putting Brig in the carrier and pinched his little arm with the prongy clip.  He cried pretty good but he's pretty tough and got over it pretty quick.  But then he was rolling all over the place and conked his head on the coffee table.  Got a big red welt on his head, though you can't see it in the picture very well. What a little goofer.  He had better naps today and is eating better.  I can't believe how much he is growing up!  Daddy worked on the garage again tonight and so we went out and watched a bit too. 

July 4, 2012 - Rain, Rain, Go Away!

It poured rain ALL day today. No walks for us.  Brig gets pretty bored stuck in this house all day.  Daddy came home and we went to Rona and Brig was soooo excited.  He just kept squealing and flapping his arms in his carseat on the way!  I sure love our little guy!

July 3, 2012 - Back to Work

Well, Joe had to go back to work today.  A little weird after a 4 day long weekend, even though he was working most of the time.  My house was super dirty from all the sawdust tracking in and stuff but it seems a little nuts to try and clean when it's just going to get tracked on again.  At least that's what I told myself in the morning when I took a nap!  It was nice to recharge a little, and I did end up cleaning the house.  We went for a couple of walks and just hung out until Daddy got home.  It was pouring rain so Joe didn't work on the garage and we got to have some good family time. 

July 2, 2012 - Holiday Monday

Well, Joe spent most of the day working on the garage again so Brigham and I spent most of our time by ourselves.  We were going to try to go out in the evening for a little celebration of some kind.  But Brig was a little crabby so we scrapped that.  Hillary and Mike must have been feeling sort of the same because they invited us over for Chinese.  So we hung out there for a bit and the boys had a bath together again.  So cute!  I need to get a picture of it sometime... 

July 1, 2012 - Canada Day!

Well, the extent of our Canada Day celebrations was to sing O Canada at church.  I would have liked to go to a parade or something, but it's Sunday and I don't stay up til 11:00 for fireworks.  Teehee.  Went to church today and spent about 70% of the time in the hallway.  I like to think I'm enduring to the end.  We go because we are supposed to!  And we've just been hanging out and napping ever since.  It's been nice to have Joe "home" with all the work he's been doing on the garage all weekend!  And he's back at it tomorrow.  But I love hanging with my boys!
