April 30, 2012 - Doctor Visit

Had our 4 month visit to the doctor today.  Brigham weighs 15lbs  15oz.  What a big boy.  4 months ago he weighed 6 lbs.  He is healthy and strong, right in the 50th percentile.  He is 25 inches long and his head is 43 cm!  He was such a good boy at the doctor today.  As long as he is fed and rested he is always pretty good natured.  So glad he's been with us for four months.  And you will note, even when you are 4 months old...as soon as you get there, they make you take your pants off!

April 29, 2012 - Sunday

We had a very nice Sunday today.  Brigham only cried for 15 minutes in the night and so he was a happy little boy in the morning.  And he slept all through sacrament meeting just like he is supposed to.  We went to the park with the Calverts in the afternoon, but we didn't last too long, the rain and the wind came up and ended our fun.  But we went over to Calverts to visit for a bit and it was nice to spend time with them.  Again, we are so grateful for all our friends and family that make life so worthwhile!

April 28, 2012 - 4 months!

Brigham is 4 months old today.  I can't believe how fast the time has gone and how much he has changed our lives.  I have gone from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.  I have survived on less sleep than I ever thought possible, and I have had more love in my life than I could have imagined.  This little boy and my fabulous husband make my life worth living.  I am so grateful for the amazing blessings that they are to me.

April 27, 2012 - Hanging with the Edwards'

Went over to Rem and Peggy's tonight to play and watch a movie.  Joe had a pretty long week so we were going to go out to a movie, but we decided to spend some time with our friends instead.  Brigham was such a good boy the whole time we were there.  We are so grateful for good friends who take us just as we are!

April 26, 2012 - Pretty Normal Day

Can't even remember what we did today.  I think we just stayed home and played.  Brigham is loving his jolly jumper and I have tons of videos of it!  He is getting a lot more interactive and he is a lot of fun to play with.  I also love his smiles and giggles...what a sweetheart!

April 25, 2012 - Hump Day

What a crazy day.  Brigham has been waking up in the night. I'm not sure if he's teething or growing or just being a little squirt.  But it's got to stop.  I can't let him get into a habit of waking up in the night.  Grrrr.  Went visiting teaching to Becca's today.  We had such a good visit.  It is always nice to talk to other moms and get their experience and advice.  After afternoon naps we got out the jolly jumper again and Brigham had a blast.  He is starting to get the jumping motion and bounces around like a little froggie.  It is so cute to watch and I love to see him happy.  Had another meltdown around 6:00 this evening.  Again, not sure if its teeth or what, but he just lost it and screamed and screamed until we gave him some tylenol and let it kick in.  Not sure what to do with the little gaffer. 

April 24, 2012 - Downtown

Well, after morning naps Brig and I ventured downtown to get the building permit for our garage.  Brigham did really well, I was so proud of the little guy.  We finally found the place and got in line.  Well, the first line.  But he was a pretty happy little guy.  And then he went to sleep with a little coaxing.  We managed to get home just before he woke up.  I was glad to survive the trip and get the permit.  We are still waiting on a couple of details, but I don't have to go back there I think.  What a little trooper.

April 23, 2012 - Another Monday

It was a beautiful day today, we finally got to go outside.  I met Hill and a bunch of other moms at the park.  Brigham wasn't too into it, but he did manage to go to sleep there so I got to stay a visit for a bit longer than I thought.  I even got a little bit of a sunburn on my chest and face.  Yeehaw...so excited that summer is on its way. 

April 22, 2012 - Sunday

What a handsome little man.  I love sundays because I get to dress him up.  Most days he just stays in his pjs.  I can't believe how much he is growing.  Every time I turn around, something else doesn't fit!  We had an okay day at church but he never gets much sleep there.  After naps we set up his new playpen out in the yard and enjoyed the sun out there.  We talked with our neighbors and decided to build a garage!  Hope it all goes well.  Bobby and Kate came over for dinner and a movie.  I love having them come to visit.  All in all a really good day.

April 21, 2012 - Jumping Bean

Well yesterday when Brig and I went out shopping, we bought a jolly jumper!  So we were excited to try it out.  He wasn't too sure about it.  He kept trying to look up at the chain and so he was laid back for a long time.  He finally got himself righted and managed to stay in there for a few minutes before gettin frustrated.  He sure hates tummy time so this is something else to get him to work on his muscles.  He was so darn cute.  I got to go out and get my hair done this morning too.  A few hours to myself was so nice, but I am always glad to come back to my little man!

April 20, 2012 - TGIF

I love Fridays.  It means Joe will be home for a couple of days.  I try to go out and meet up with other moms, mostly Hillary, but especially with Brig's schedule out the window, it's hard and I get lonely.  It's also nice to have Joe around for relief duty.  But that will be tomorrow I guess.  Today has been busy.  Laundry, clean house, some shopping, and making dinner for the missionaries who are coming over tonight.  If I make it past eight I think I'll celebrate...with a nap!  But I love my little monkey and the good boy that he is.  He lights up my life!

Afterword:  What a crazy day.  Joe ended up having to stay late at work and Brigham was up way later than usual, so I had him in the backpack trying to make dinner before the missionaries showed up.  But it all turned out and it was good to have the missionaries in our home!

April 19, 2012 - Teething?

Well, we had a screaming neemie on our hands today.  Brig's schedule has been off since Sunday, up in the night and things like that.  Today I got him up at four to feed him and he ate about 2 ounces and just lost it.  I eventually gave him some Tylenol and within 20 minutes he was back to his pretty happy self.  I'm thinking teething?  But not too sure.  Joe got home in time to rescue me though, and I got to get out of the house for and hour to get some groceries!  Wahoo!  I found a cute little new friend for Brigham that he had a good time with!  I have such a great little boy.

April 18, 2012 - Another Day At Home

Well, with Brig's runny nose we didn't venture out a whole lot today.  We did go and visit Joe at work.  Everyone was glad to see him!  We hadn't planned on it, but we ended up going to the U of A hospital to visit Joe's grandma.  She fell a few weeks ago and broke her hip, so she was needing some company.  She also hadn't seen Brig yet, so it was time for a visit.  We showed her lots of pictures of Brig, and we tried to get a picture with her, but she wouldn't have it.  I supposed a banged up face and a hospital gown isn't necessarily a memory you want for the generations to come!  It was a good visit, and Brig had fun "driving" his little steering wheel in the car.  He grabs on to everything now!

April 17, 2012 - Sad Little Face

Today was a pretty normal day.  Had a nice tubby with my little man in the morning.  He really seems to enjoy them.  I hope he ends up loving the water like me!  My little man has been a little sick this week too.  Just a bit of a runny nose, but it's made him a little snuggly.  And a little grumpy.  He is such an easy baby that when he gets fussy, if it's not food or sleep, it's hard to know what to do for him.  Sometimes all he needs is cuddles though and I love those moments, even when they're hard.

April 16, 2012 - Monday Monday

Sometimes the day to dayness of being a stay at home mom gets to me.  But this morning Brig was playing on his mat and he caught himself in the little mirror.  I just watched him staring at himself for 2 or 3 minutes.  It just melts my heart to see him discover something new.  Of course, as soon as I moved to get the camera, he was distracted and as it was close to nap time, he got grumpy. So off to bed for a little guy.  We went out for a walk this afternoon with Hillary and Ethan.  Ethan sure loved teasing Mac with the ball.  Brigham wasn't too thrilled with the activity, but was good for a little bit!

April 15, 2012 - Family Sunday

Brigham woke up around 4 this morning, which is pretty unusual for him, but I couldn't get him settled so I gave him a bit to eat.  Consequently, he slept in and so did we!  We still made it to church on time, but the poor boys schedule was off for the rest of the day.  Joe spent a good half hour in the hallway with a screaming boy.  We got home and finally got him settled and he slept for almost 3 and a half hours.  So I got a nice nap as well.  Then we had Hill, Mike, Ethan, Kate, and Bobby over for dinner.  Hill made a beautiful lasagne that ended up on the road outside due to an accident en route from the car to the house!  Oh well.  We threw some spaghetti on and dinner was fine.  We made carmel popcorn for dessert and after Ethan figured out why it stuck together it was a pretty big hit!  We had a nice visit and then Bobby and Kate stayed for a movie.  Such a great way to end the weekend!  Off to another Monday!

April 14, 2012 - Saturday is a Special Day

Saturday is always a special day around here because Joe is home.  Otherwise there wasn't a whole lot special about it.  I went and got groceries in the morning.  We decided to make some treats in the afternoon.  We ended up not getting them done before we were supposed to go over to hillary's for a visit.  So we thought we'd take treats over there and cook them there.  We ended up "burning the house down".  Not exactly, but some of the sugar spilled over and started smoking and it made for a stinky messy kitchen.  Not exactly a nice visit.  But I love that my sister and I are close enough to hang out and have crap happen and still get along.  All in all, a pretty good day.

April 13, 2012 - Dentist

Joe and I had dentist appointments with out good friend Rem today, and so Brig got to come along.  So he had his first "dentist visit" at 3 and a half months!  Hahaha....we just sat him in the chair and tried to get a picture before he started screaming.  He even fell over and had a little bump on his head for the rest of the day.  Daddy got to go in late for work so we had a relaxing morning.  After naps and Joe went back to work, I was a little bored, so I took Brig for a weigh-in.  A whopping 14lbs 12oz.  What a big boy.  He's also 23inches long.  When do you go from being inches "long" to inches "tall".  I guess maybe when you start standing up!  Hahaha.  Then we just had a night at home together.  I sure love my little family and all the new things we discover every day.

April 12, 2012 - Oh Dear!

Well, we had a good morning at mom and dad's.  Brig was right on schedule, ate well, and was a pretty happy boy.  I had everything packed and ready to go all at the right time and Brig was even awake and happy in the car for 20 minutes before he drifted off to sleep without a peep!  What a blissful ride says you? Oh no, says I!  At about lacombe he woke up and at about ponoka he started screaming and he screamed the whole way home.  I tried talking to him, covering his face so he'd go back to sleep, uncovering his face, singing primary songs, screaming primary songs over the yelling, etc.  I eventually resorted to turning up the radio really loud.  We got home and gave him something to eat.  That calmed him down a little.  Then I realized he had a very messy diaper.  I'm not sure if the messy diaper woke him up or if the screaming caused the messy diaper.  Anyway, eventually he got fed and changed and went down for a 3 hour nap!  It was so good to have Joe come home from work and have our little family together again.  I sure love my boys!

April 11, 2012 - Happy Boy

Good tummy time today!

It has been so fun to be at home with mom and dad.  Brigham has been such a happy little boy the past few days.  Tons of smiles and even some laughs!  I've tried to get a few videos of the laughs.  It works a little, but there's a lot of video of me sounding retarded!  Hahaha.  Oh well.  The things we do for our kids.  Brig sat with my dad for a bit this evening and gave him tons of smiles.  I love seeing my dad melt over his little grandkids.  I think sometimes parents get so caught up in the day to day-ness of raising kids that we forget to take the time for those quiet special moments.  It's good to be reminded of that sometimes.  I am so grateful for my parents who love my Briggy so much. 

April 10, 2012 - Lazy Day

Pretty lazy day today.  Dad had to go and sub at Elnora school so mom and I have been hanging out today.  Not doing a whole lot.  I love lazy days, especially when you have some company.  Right now we're watching The Burbs while I catch up on the blog.  Brigham is finally sleeping.  He had a crummy nap this morning and has been a bit of a grump all day.  I could use a nap but he'll be up soon so no such luck.  Can't wait for Grampa to get home.  Dad sure loves Brig and I am so excited for Brig to have a Grampa who is so ready to have his little hooligans to do stuff with!

April 9, 2012 - Easter Monday in the Country

We went to Jake and Krym's for a dinner on Monday.  Brig feel asleep on the way there without a peep, but as soon as we got there he was wide awake for the action.  It was nice to go and visit with Krym, have good food, and see the kids.  We got to finally see Abel for the first time.  He's a little smaller than Brig and such a cutie.  They are going to be such good buddies when they get older. Doug Greip was over for dinner too and we went shooting after dinner.  All in all, a pretty good weekend.  Joe went home and I went back to mom and dad's to visit for a few more days. 

April 8, 2012 - Easter Sunday

Another relaxing day at home.  Got to have a bit slower morning while we got ready for church. Although it is a little crazy getting everyone showered and ready.  Church was nice, but it is so hard on the little guy.  His little schedule gets all turned around. Worked in our favor today though, he slept from noon til three!  Seems like everytime I get Joe to take over and can have as long a nap as I want, Brig sleeps that long anyway!  Ben and Carlee left after church.  Bobby proposed to Kait this afternoon.  Wahoo!  Her ring is super cute and I am really happy for them.  They left in the afternoon and so we had a quiet evening with mom and dad all to ourselves.

April 7, 2012 - Easter Bunny

We had a lazy day on Saturday.  Just hung out with the family.  Rory went out for a walk in the afternoon, and when she got back the Easter Bunny had come.  She had a good time looking for all the eggs that Joe and Bobby hid.  Ellie had a good time with the eggs too.  Brig's not quite ready for it!  We also got to go and have a girls night.  Mom, Kait, Carlee, and I went to Red Deer and saw the Hunger Games while the boys watched the kids.  I didn't really want to go at first.  I didn't want to do the driving and stay out late and all the rest of it.  But we ended up going and had a really good time.  Thank heavens Carlee kicked us all in the butt enough to get us out the door.

April 6, 2012 - Good Friday

We had a nice relaxing morning just hanging out as a family.  It's so nice to have Joe home.  Then we got in the car and drove to my parents place.  Brigham slept the whole way!  What a good little traveller.  Ben and Carlee came with Rory and Ellie, as well as Kate and Bobby.  I love coming to see Mom and Dad and it's tons of fun when we get to see some of the siblings too!  We had our Easter dinner today and I volunteered to bring the dessert.  I made these little bite size chocolate cream pies and strawberry shortcakes.  The shortcake didn't turn out all the well, but the rest seemed like a success. 

April 5, 2012 - Hanging Out at Home

We decided to leave for my parents house on Friday so I spent Thursday doing laundry and cleaning house and hanging out with my little boy.  I love to hold him and play with him, though his face would show that he's maybe not as into it as I am!

Well we finally got Brigham back to the swimming pool with Daddy. Joe got off work a little early and we took Brig back over to Terwillegar rec centre.  I am glad that Brig doesn't hate swimming.  He's still a little too little to really like it I think but he just chills with us or in his little chair.  It is so fun to have Joe be able to come and spend time with us for some of the day to day stuff I like to do with Briggs.

April 3, 2012 - Shopping

Sneeze Face

Well, between 6am and noon I did just about nothing.  I've been doing a lot of spring cleaning and working and stuff and so today I took the day off.  Brigham and I just hung out and played and napped and had a good time.   He loves to "wrestle" his doll - it is soooo cute. He had a long nap from noon to two and so I had a nice long bath.  Then I decided to put myself together before Joe got home.  We went out to the mall tonight because Joe wanted to go to David's Tea to try some new teas.  Brigham is usually fairly fussy in the evenings, but he had a good late afternoon snooze so we decided to give it a try.  He was a little fussy when we got there but we took him out of his carseat and put him facing forward in the stroller.  He had a blast.  Apparently he just needs to see things!  It was fun to get out and see the world for a bit, especially with Daddy!

April 2, 2012 - Monday Monday

We went and hung out with Hillary and Ethan today.  I missed hanging out with them last week and then they went home for the weekend.  I love that Ethan loves to see me and "littlelittlelittle" which is his name for Brigham.  We went and spent the morning and then came home after lunch.  Brigham was pretty crabby most of yesterday and was a little grumpy today.  I think he's still trying to "work things out"...literally.  A couple more poops today.  Who knew poop was so exciting.  Then Daddy came home.  I love when Joe comes home.  Not only does it give me a little break, but we get to hace some family time and I get to share all the cute little moments of Brigham with Joe.  I sure love my little family!

April 1, 2012 - Pooping Sunday

Well, our little boy has a pooping issue...as in, he doesn't.  It's been nine days since he pooped.  And I know it's normal for breastfed babies and all that, but today he got pretty mad.  We had a nice relaxing tubby this morning and he was happy and good and as soon as he got out, he screamed like never before.  Nothing would calm him down until Joe started pumping his legs.  So I ran out and got some suppositories.  Worked like a charm though.  About 4 minutes later...BOOM!  I am so glad that he is feeling better and we've started adding some prune juice to his bottles a couple of times a day.  I'm hoping he'll get a little more regular because he sure gets uncomfortable!

March 31, 2012 - Spring is Here

We've had a couple of beautiful days here so we've taken the opportunities to go out for a couple of family walks.  I love my carrier from Krym and Jake and love to go for walks, especially when Joe comes along.  We dressed Brig up in his little hat from Gram.  He looks so gangsta!  It was also the first day of conference so it was nice to listen to the words of the prophets.  Kate came over during the Preisthood session and we got to gab and do girl stuff.  I love having her come over and play with Brigham. 

March 30, 2012 - Date Night

It was a beautiful day today and Joe's boss kicked everyone out of the office early today.  So we went out for a little date afternoon.  We just went to South Edmonton Common and did a little shopping.  We took Brigham to Kites and Other Delights and showed him all the cool things that there is to see there.  We also picked up a couple pairs of pajamas for him.  He have a ton of hand-me-downs from friends but they are all just a little too small.  I guess he is growing like a weed!  They are totally cute.  Then we went to Good Buddy for dinner and all the cute little chinese ladies said he was adorable and "so big!"  It was a fun night and good to go do something as a family!

March 29, 2012 - Spring Cleaning

Well, I've been getting a little cabin fever, just not a lot to do during the days.  I'm always a little hesitant to leave the house just cause Brigham always does better in his own bed. So I have going crazy in my house.  In the past few days I've cleaned out my car, spring cleaned the front yard, and cleaned out my kitchen cupboards, fridge, and stove.  All things I wanted to do in January but had a newborn instead!  Brigham has been really good with my plans.  He hangs out in his chair or on his mat while he's awake and then has good naps.  And we get to have a little play time too.  I know I'll run out of steam soon so I'm trying to get a few of the grosser things done while I can.  For example, I don't think the car has been cleaned since we bought it!  But it looks great now!

Brig has also gotten really smiley these past few weeks.  Especially in the morning.  After he wakes up we feed him and then change him and he is always ready with some smiles to make my morning!
